Performance
Speed claims come from benchmarks or not at all. These are the results of the last full performance pass, on the owner's PC, with 60 popular mods installed.
| Test | Result | How |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate, 60 mods | 948FPS | Median. Slowest one-second sample: 857 FPS. |
| Start to the title screen | 17.1s | Warm start with 60 mods, Play pressed to first title frame. |
| First start after install | 27.2s | Fabric caches and configs deleted first. Measured on 0.13.1. |
| Java 25 option | +2% | 925.6 vs 907.3 FPS, median of 4 interleaved pairs. Opt-in per instance. |

- 22 October 2026, Amethyst 0.14.0
Not yet measured on a low-end PC. The Low-end PC preset in the launcher targets built-in graphics, but there is no result to show for it yet.
How the frame rate is measured
- The client has a built-in bench mode. It opens the same fixed-seed world each time, flies to the same spot above the spawn at noon in clear weather, and faces the same direction.
- Render distance 12, a 1280 by 720 window, no frame cap and no vsync, so nothing hides differences.
- 30 seconds of warm-up, then 30 one-second samples. The result is the median of those; "slowest" is the lowest single second.
- Each comparison is run as A, B, A, B and so on, because batches run one after the other drifted by up to 9 % within one evening.
- Five runs per result; the median is shown. Runs where something else was busy on the PC are thrown out and said so.
How start-up is measured
- From pressing Play to the first frame of the title screen, timed by the launcher and the client together.
- A warm start is any start after the first. A cold start has Fabric's caches, configs and logs deleted first; the Windows file cache is not flushed.
- With 60 mods, a warm start split into Fabric 2.9 s, Minecraft's own start 8.4 s and resource loading 5.7 s. Amethyst's own set-up takes 63 ms.
- The opt-in class cache (AppCDS) cut a warm start by 1.9 s, but the first, recording start took 98.6 s, so it stays off by default.
The 60 mods
Sodium 0.8.14, Iris (no shader pack), Lithium, C2ME, FerriteCore, Entity Culling, ImmediatelyFast, More Culling, BadOptimizations, VMP, Entity Model Features, Entity Texture Features, Continuity, Jade, Bobby, Sound Physics, Visuality, Wavey Capes, 3D Skin Layers, Zoomify and their libraries, plus Amethyst's own HUD modules (FPS, CPS, ping, armor, potion effects, saturation, totem pops, fullbright, boss bar, screenshot helper, zoom and toggle sprint).
What has not been measured
- A low-end PC with built-in graphics. The Low-end PC preset (6 chunks, no clouds, shadows, mipmaps or smooth lighting) is made for one, but there is no result to show yet.
- macOS and Linux, which are not released yet.
- Comparisons with other clients. Different clients ship different mods and settings, so a fair comparison needs the same mods, settings and scene on each; that test has not been run.
